Episode 48 is full of trip-hop, soulful grooviness. Starting with an introduction from Guillaume of the popular trip hop ensemble,\u00a0SHINE<\/a>, we launch into SHINE’s opening track (“Soulful Music”) from their album “The Common Station,” which you can buy from\u00a0iTunes<\/a>,\u00a0Amazon<\/a>, and other online sellers. Every track on this album is enjoyable from beginning to end, so I highly recommend that you buy it. Guillaume informs us that they’re working on a new album with\u00a0Terry Reid<\/a> that should come out later this year. Can’t wait!<\/p>\n

The beats and grooves continue throughout. There’s quite a few\u00a0Jamendo<\/a> artists in this episode:\u00a0Screenatorium<\/a>, from France, with “Addiction,”\u00a0Wasaru<\/a>, also from France, with “Old Story,”\u00a0Chill Carrier<\/a>, from Germany, with “Me and My Rocket,” and\u00a0Shyam Monk<\/a>, from India, with a memorable and enchanting world groove called “Orphan’s Song<\/a>,” that will leave you thinking “how can I hear more from this guy??” It’s that good.<\/p>\n

The netlabels have solid representation here, as well. The artist\u00a0Lost Soul Refuge\u00a0<\/a>is here with a track from his new release on the Dusted Wax Kingdom netlabel, called “Black Orchid<\/a>.” PinocChio SP from Germany shares a track called “Last Days<\/a>,” released on a compilation on the Konsum netlabel in Germany.\u00a0Phour Trakk<\/a> has a totally chilled groove called “Running on Karma,” and there’s a soulful, sample mashup from\u00a0Ate One<\/a> that sounds like Archie Bell and the Drells have arrived in the 21st century, both from the\u00a0Id.eology netlabel<\/a> in Germany.<\/p>\n

Three more independent artists have tracks in this podcast, and you’re sure to enjoy all of them:\u00a0Di Evantile<\/a> (also known as Oleg Somov), from Kazakhstan included “Storm,” which has some nice breaks in it. (Di Evantile also has several albums for sale on\u00a0CD Baby<\/a>,\u00a0iTunes<\/a>, and more.) Leon Somov from Lithuania has the Brazilian flavored “Mano (Arclab and Nearth, the Parentheses remix)<\/a>” with Jazzu. And there’s yet another track from the prolific and wonderfully trip hoppy\u00a0Suhov<\/a> in Hungary: “Tinil\u00e1nyok Alma.”<\/p>\n
